Amendment to Rules. #1: 10/5/95 At the duly constituted meeting of May 10th 1995, at which seven financial members were present, the following "Amendment to the Rules" was adopted. Subject: The formation of a Disputes Committee Reason: It should be seen in public that the Guild accepts responsibility in investigating the actions of its members, so far as investigating any complaints that are made by a customer against a Guild member or Guild member against a customer to ascertain if there is any justification in the said complaint. The Guild does not undertake to police its members so far as resolving any dispute, only to make suggestions to the interested parties as to the correct course of action. Proposal: (Prop. Peter Thomas - Sec. Kevin Williams) "Any dispute that is made known to the Guild should be dealt with by the appointment of three Members who should investigate the problem and make the appropriate suggestions for resolving it. In doing so, no comments would be made during the investigation to either party until a solution is able to be suggested. If the suggested solution is unacceptable to both parties, the matter should then be referred to the appropriate legal recourse - either under the Consumers Guarantees Act or action the Small Courts (Disputes Tribunal)". This amendment was unanimously approved. |
